The "M" Word is getting closer.

Well, the time for moving is getting closer. If you don't know us already, I'll introduce us, and tell you a bit about our story.  We are two cats that live with our Mom and Papa (Grandpa).  We have been living in a house in California, but that is about to change in a big way.  We are moving into a 40 foot motor home to travel around the United States and Canada.  We are hoping to meet many of you along the way (or at least your human slaves), and we are hoping this will be a good record of our adventures.

I'm Gracie Mae, but just call me Gracie, and we think I'm 8 years-old.  If you want to read about my gotcha day, you can do so here.  Mom just bought me a nice new harness and leash which I haven't decided if I like or not.  I don't mind the car too much, especially if I have someone to hold me.  Mom has been taking me in the car to get used to being in something that moves.

This is my brother Cody.  He's 17.  He's pretty much afraid of almost everyone (except Mom now, and sometimes Papa).  Those of you who know us, know that Cody has always been what Mom considers to be an inside feral - refusing to let people pet him, and not allowing anyone to get within 10 feet of him.  That changed in the last couple of years or so.  He's still scared, but he trusts Mom a lot more, and will let her pet him, and she can pick him up sometimes, but it really scares him, so she doesn't do it often. He will even sit next to her on the arm of the chair.  He discovered he loves people food (chick-hen, ham, and beef), and that is what really caused a big break-through in his learning to trust Mom.

Mom went out to the motor home (which is currently in storage) today with Papa.  She wanted to look around and see how much space was available, and what she needs to get for the trip.  While there, she decided to get a couple of pictures so we could see where we are moving into.  Unfortunately, because it is still in storage, the slides couldn't be put out, but it'll give y'all an idea of what it will look like as we are driving down the road and the available space (excuse the mess in a couple of pictures, there are things to be put away for full-time living).

Our motor home - it's a little over 40 feet long, and with the slides open, has approximately 400 square feet of living space.  The two doors on the bottom lead to our "basement" which is mostly storage space.  There are two more storage compartments on the other side.

This is from the passenger seat looking back toward the rear of the motor home.  The sofa to the right turns into a queen sized bed, and that is where Mom (and the two of us will sleep).  There are currently two recliners to the left with a table in between, but we think we are going to remove one of the chairs and the table.  That will then be where our litter box goes, and possibly a file cabinet.  Further down the coach is the kitchen and dining area, then the pantry, bathroom, washer/dryer combo, and finally the bedroom, where Papa will sleep.

Here is standing by the bathroom, looking toward the front living room and driver/passenger area.  The wall next to the couch (that you can see with the window on it) is how much room we gain when that slide is out - it goes the entire length of the living/dining area.  Behind that wall is the driver's seat.

Here is the dining room table.  It has a pull out leaf in the table to make it bigger, although it has only been used a couple of times - when Mom and Papa went to Carlsbad caverns with Mom's brother's family, there was a BIG storm, and there were 5 of us in the motor home playing games, and waiting out the storm, so the table was pulled apart then.

Finally, here is Papa's bed.  His room has two slide outs on each side.

We have a style/design question for all of you - do you prefer to see the pictures first, and then the description, or the description first, and then the pictures?

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.

  1. Wow, that is quite the change! I don't think I would want to live in a rolling house. I hope you don't try to get out of it during stops.
